Identity verification
Last updated September 22, 2026
What is checked
Every account must complete identity verification through Socure before listing or bidding. Socure confirms that the government-issued ID presented is valid, that it matches a live selfie, and that the holder is at least 18.
Verification does not include a criminal history check, does not determine whether someone is legally eligible to buy or possess a firearm, does not confirm that a listed item exists or is as described, and does not guarantee any transaction. Warmarket is not a party to transactions between users.
Who checks it
Identity verification is performed by Socure, a third-party provider. Warmarket does not receive, cache, log, or store the ID image, the selfie, or any face template. We receive a pass or fail result and limited non-biometric fields needed to operate the marketplace (date of birth, city, and state).
How the result is used
Identity data is used only for identity verification, age confirmation, and fraud prevention. It is not used for marketing, segmentation, profiling, or data enrichment. A verified badge on a profile or listing means the account completed this check. It is not a background check, a firearms-eligibility determination, or a guarantee about a listing or a transaction.
Biometric data
The ID image, selfie, and any face template are collected and retained by Socure, not by Warmarket. Warmarket's public biometric retention and destruction schedule describes what we receive and how long the provider keeps biometric data.
When it is required
You can browse without verifying. Identity verification is required before you can list an item, start or bid in an auction, or complete a transaction.
